GMAT Preparation: Step-by-step process overview by Atit Shah

Step 1 (Getting to know yourself): DAY 1:

Take a practice test at http://www.veritasprep.com/gmat/free-gmat-practice-test/  for a free test.

Step 2 (Analyzing your score): DAY 1:

If you are below 45 in quant, you need to thoroughly brush-up quantitative ability section.

If you are below 25 in verbal, you need to really focus on verbal and it will require serious efforts.

For all other cases, you can achieve 720 and above with regular practice.

Step 3 (Preparing): DAY 2 to DAY 20:

Go through OG 12 thoroughly. Solve atleast 25-30 problems / questions from each of the sections.

Do more questions on the weak sections.

Step 4 (Resources): DAY 21 :


Step 5 (Testing): DAY 21 :

Take practice set 1, test 1

Step 6 (Analyzing your score): DAY 21

Based on your score range you need to decide your strategy further.Typically your score will fall in the following ranges:

750+, Go ahead and Take GMAT

720-750, Don't worry, Go ahead and take another practice test. If score is consistent, take GMAT

700-720, If you seriously think you have higher potential, take 3-4 more practice tests. If your performance is 700+, go ahead and take GMAT
